Chevrolet dealership in Savannah, GA
Coastal Chevrolet has a solid history of selling quality cars to good people. Coastal Chevrolet is part of the Dan Vaden Auto Group. Our origin story is a good old-fashioned tale of a man who wanted to take his passion to the next level by working hard and taking the lead. That man was Dan Vaden, and his passion was selling cars.
Mr. Vaden graduated from the University of Florida and promptly entered the working world as a used car sales trainee in Jacksonville, Florida. He spent 15 years there, and his commitment, work ethic, and results were rewarded with promotions to General Manager and part owner. In 1968, General Motors came calling with an opportunity in the state of Georgia, so he brought his wife and two daughters over to the Peach State and started Dan Vaden Chevrolet on an old dairy farm.
Since then, quite a bit has happened after Mr. Vaden’s initial efforts, including the expansion of the business to other areas. The expansions began in 1980, when Mr. Vaden got the ball rolling by adding other franchises and locations in the region. After many vigorous expansion efforts, the Vaden family now operates nine dealerships in Savannah and Low Country, each carrying a vast selection of different brands and styles from around the world.
Awards have rolled in over the years to demonstrate the Dan Vaden Auto Group’s dedication to quality. In 1992, Time Magazine named Mr. Vaden as one of the top eight new-car dealers in the country, winning the prestigious Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award. In 2006, the group won the Better Business Bureau’s Diane Wahrman Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. Finally, in 2008, Mr. Vaden was given the highest honor in the Savannah business community by being inducted into the Savannah Business Hall of Fame for his leadership and generosity.
Sadly, Mr. Vaden passed away at his home on December 7, 2010. His legacy, however, lives on in the values we share at Coastal Chevrolet and throughout the entirety of Dan Vaden Auto Group. Mr. Vaden often said to his employees, “I don’t sign your paycheck—your customers do.” Indeed, without customers, where would we be? That customer-focused mindset has helped the business grow to serve hundreds of thousands of people throughout the Southeast.
We treat our employees and customers as partners because they are responsible for our success!
